ragleap-rag v0.12.9 release notes

WeaviateBackend (3 real bugs, found by live testing against a real Weaviate instance): (1) init_schema() called connect_to_local() with no arguments, hardcoding localhost:8080/50051; added local_host= / local_port= / local_grpc_port= (defaults unchanged). (2) self_provided() with no name= creates a named vector "default"; insert and search now both reference it (search previously returned zero results silently). (3) Similarity scores were raw cosine in [-1, 1]; now 1.0 - distance/2, matching pgvector's [0, 1] convention.
QdrantBackend (1 real bug, first fixed in 0.12.7, which was never tagged on its own and ships for the first time here): search_dense() returned raw cosine in [-1, 1]; now (x + 1) / 2. Pre-fix live scores for identical / orthogonal / opposite vectors were 1.0 / 0.0 / -1.0.
Also bundled: ingest() gained an optional metadata= parameter (released earlier as v0.12.8).

Qdrant and Weaviate: live smoke tests against real instances (init_schema, insert, search with and without filters, list, delete), plus new QDRANT_TEST_URL / WEAVIATE_TEST_URL-gated live tests that skip when unset.
CI on main (ragleap-rag-tests): 191 passed, 81 skipped. Live-gated tests skip in CI because it has no live credentials, so the skipped count is not "passing". No ragleap-rag source or test changes exist between this tag and that run.
Fix markers confirmed present in the published 0.12.9 wheel.

MilvusBackend and PineconeBackend remain code-complete but untested against real instances (issue #510).

The CHANGELOG dates this release 2026-09-26; it was published to PyPI on 2026-09-29.

The "Verified" section above says live-gated tests skip in CI because it has no live credentials. That explanation was incomplete. Of the 81 skipped tests in the CI run, 63 are mocked Pinecone (20), Milvus (16), Qdrant (15) and Weaviate (12) tests, skipped because those client packages are not installed in the CI job; 12 are live-gated Qdrant/Weaviate tests; the rest need Ollama or reranking packages (reasons taken from the tests' skip markers). This means the mocked Qdrant/Weaviate regression tests added in 0.12.7 and 0.12.9 do not run in CI today. Tracked in issue #534.
ragleap.__version__ reports 0.12.6 in this release (the package metadata version is 0.12.9). Tracked in issue #534.
